About Jordan Zadwick
Live/Session Drummer and Bass Player
Jordan Zadwick began studying classical piano at age 8 with the Shinichi Suzuki method -- developing listening and memorization skills before reading. By age ten, he was participating in college-level music theory instruction by the push of his instructor and testing at a local community college. At age 12, Zadwick picked up the bass guitar under the guidance of his instructor Russell Mirabelli, a talented musical mentor, and a close friend. By age 14, Jordan had also started playing drums and percussion.
Jordan started professionally playing as a drummer at age fifteen, often playing in bands whose members were twice his age. With regular local gigs, extended tours, and studio recording sessions, Jordan soaked up all the musical experience he could from these other musicians. He is forever grateful to them for their friendship, guidance, and mentorship.
Mr. Zadwick has both international touring and studio experience.
Jordan, a native Texan with southern California also in his DNA , was raised in a musical family and grew up listening to the sounds of his father (a Jazz guitarist) playing to the likes of George Benson, Earl Klugh, Les Paul, Joe Pass, Larry Carlton, and Cornell Dupree. Jordan later studied the classic Jazz sounds of drummers like Gene Krupa, Joe Morello, Tony Williams, Philly Jo Jones, and Art Blakey as well as modern Jazz greats like Manu Katche’, Steve Gadd, Dave Weckl, and blues/rock counterparts like Stewart Copeland (The Police), John Bonham (Led Zeppelin), Chris Layton (Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble), Dave Grohl (Nirvana), and Matt Cameron (Soundgarden).
In the mid-90's, Jordan was introduced to Punk and New Wave and fell in love with bands like Dead Kennedys, The Descendents, The Cure, Human League, and Kraftwerk. Jordan cut his professional teeth with the billboard indie charting punk act, The Visitors, starting in 1997, consisting of former UK Subs drummer Benjie "Bollox" Butler on vocals, with talented musicians Stephen Jones on Guitar/Vocals, and Ted Uhlemann on Bass. Jordan would follow Stephen and Ted to form the band Red Martian in 1999.
Some later highlights of Jordan's career are with the Texas country act, the Mark Gorman Band, who hold awards as best Texas singer-songwriter and album award nominations. In addition, Jordan has played with the Joel Sprayberry band and the Rockabilly group The Vinyl Stripes, formed by the founder of the well-known Texas Gypsies.
Jordan's roots being in both Punk Rock and Jazz, are a proof-point that his diverse musical background covers a broad range of genres.
When not playing drums professionally, Mr. Zadwick is a cybersecurity consultant and systems engineer with the prestigious certification as a CISSP. He is happily married to his wife and best friend of twenty-five years and has three beautiful boys.
Proud of his Ashkenazi Jewish heritage and all of the history that goes along with it, Mr. Zadwick also stays involved by supporting a variety of human rights activism around the globe, such as the tragedies and child abuse in the Congo and working to support the needy in Israel. Having lost a portion of his own family in the holocaust, the saying “never forget” is something he holds dear and actively works to uphold.
